Six day add-on to the Maldive Adventure Bangkok & Chiang Mai
This incredible six day adventure offers something for everyone with visits to Bangkok and Chiang Mai. In Bangkok we shall tour the temples (wats) and buildings of cultural interest, navigate the waters of the Chao Phraya River, and enjoy a private city tour with our own gay friendly english-speaking Thai native guide, by night we will indulge in the endless delights and sinful pleasures of Bangkok. Of course no trip to Bangkok would be complete with out a visit to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, www.watpho.com or the famous Babylon Sauna. www.babylonbkk.com Bangkok is an amazing city, picture New York City's, China town & Time Square, together, on steroids, multiply by 100, remove all traffic laws, city codes, and health code regulations. There you have it Bangkok! You will be surrounded by incredible energy, all of your senses simultaneously stimulated and yet unlike New York, there is a sense of calm and peacefulness, very seldom will you hear horns blowing or people yelling, everyone is always smiling. Somehow it all amazingly flows. Feel free to get lost. In spite of what western media portrays. Bangkok is a safe city and easy to get around. They have two separate state-of-art subways systems, above ground and below. The people are extremely nice and helpful, even if you do not speak the Thai language. One more thing, you don't have to have sex with a minor to enjoy the wonderful people and culture of this country (Who Knew!)
On Tuesday, March 9th we fly north to Chiang Mai. Here we will experience old style Thailand, away from the big city of Bangkok, there are countless things to do here in northern Thailand, trekking, cooking classes, Thai massage, the famous night bazaar, elephant camps. You could wonder endlessly through the winding narrow sois (streets) of old city and never grow board. We will stay in 4-star accommodation inside charming old city. The celebrations in Chiang Mai are endless with traditional cultural events at temples, outdoor concerts, shows, and dancing. Thailand is 96 percent Buddhist and is known as the land of 1000 smiles. For many, Thailand can be a very spiritual place; you will find the culture, customs, and demeanor to be 180 degree apart from what we typically experience in the western world. My advise is to slow down, smile a lot, and embrace the warm kindness of the thousands of friendly people you are about to encounter.
Optional Excursion: March 13- 20 2010 Manithri Live-aboard in the Maldives. Spend 7-days in this world class dive destination aboard a luxury yacht.
Note : Due to the numerous and diverse opportunities available in each of the place we will visit. I have intentionally allowed free time for you to explore and discover Thailand on your own terms. The agenda will be "free style". Providing you have a sense of adventure and willingness to explore new things, you will find this to be one of the most rewarding trips you've ever taken. Thailand is deeply rich in cultural and heritage. Forget everything you think you know about human nature and brace yourself for the wonderful cultural shock of Thailand.
